Xconomy reports that iRobot, Bluefin and Teledyne/Webb Research are competing for a big contract for 154 robotic submarines (iRobot with its recently acquired Seaglider), with a contract award expected Sept. 15. This would seem like gravy for iRobot, and hard to win since they got in the game late, but their military prez, Joe Dyer, is an old Navy guy and they have gotten lots of contracts via the Navy, so who knows?
My guess is that at about $100K a copy plus servicing you are looking at a $20 million initial contract.
